It’s time! The comments sections are open, and you can load your pitches on our website. See here for step-by-step instructions. The pitch window closes at 11:59 pm EDT on Oct. 1, any new pitch added after that will be deleted.
A few answers to common questions:
This is a graphic novel pitch event, so all pitches must be GN related. The picture book category is for GN-style picture books, examples of what we mean by that are listed in the page for those pitches. Hybrid projects are allowed that include sequential art pages mixed with prose or poetry, not illustrated pages with prose or poetry.
For illustrators who are not pitching a project, use the illustration pages, either agented or unagented, to load your bio in the comments section and attach an art file sample of your sequential art/GN work. If you pitch in the illustrator section, you cannot also pitch a project. If you pitch a project, you cannot also pitch in the illustrator section.
Your art sample can be any dimension as long as the file is under 5MB or less. You can have multiple images but make sure they aren’t crowded and are easily visible. If you’re pitching a project, a spread from that project might be the best option. Or even one side with a sequential page sample and the other with some character designs, whatever you feel most comfortable with. If you still don’t know what to post, wait and see what others are posting. You have two full days to get your pitch in.
If you post a pitch, you can edit the comment section with the settings button at the bottom right of your comment, but you won’t be able to delete it. You can also delete your art file, but you won’t be able to reload a new one, so if you load an art file, then want to change it, you’ll have to load a new pitch. Delete the old art file, and/or email us that you want us to take down the duplicate pitch and we will. There is, unfortunately, no way for the end user to delete their whole comment once it is up.
On that note, if at any time during the pitch event, you want us to delete your pitch, send us an email at kidlitgn at gmail dot com and we will delete it. The pitch will stay up the entire month of October otherwise and be deleted at the end of the event.

And finally, once you pitch is up, feel fee to share it on your social media platforms. Agents, editors, and publishers can begin viewing the pitches Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 8 am EDT, so you may want to wait until then, but it’s up to you. Here’s a short video on how to share the link to your individual pitch if you want to spread the word on your social media platforms, or share other people’s pitches on social media as well:
Hooray!! Thank you, KidlitGN. Best of luck to all!
