KidLitGN’s 2025 pitch event opens for viewing on October 1. That means, agents, editors, and publishers can begin viewing and requesting pitches at 8 a.m. on October 1 throughout the entire month of October. BUT, for those of you planning to pitch a project (or for illustrators pitching their portfolios), you can begin loading your pitches as soon as Sept. 28 at 8 a.m. EDT until 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 1. No new pitches will be accepted after that time.

A few things to consider:

  • Agented GN creators, there are spaces for you. We typically get the fewest entries in these categories, but we do get requests from editors in these categories, so consider pitching your work.
  • We get a lot of interest on the first day of the pitch, so it is in your interest to load your pitches before they open for viewing the morning of Oct. 1, but it’s still in your interest to get your pitch up before the deadline that night because we still get requests throughout the entire month.
  • You will be able to see your pitch as soon as you post it. If you don’t see it, it didn’t go through.
  • Your art files can and should be more than one image. Sequential images are recommended. You can consider a spread with a section from your project, or a page from your project on one side and character sketches on the other. It really doesn’t matter how you balance that as long as it is legible. Just save your art in a format that best showcases your project (or portfolio if you are pitching as an illustrator rather than pitching a project).  The only limitation on the art file is the size, which caps at 5 MB.
  • You can pitch up to three different projects. If you don’t have a project but are an illustrator, you can pitch a sample from your portfolio in our illustrator’s section, which includes space for un-agented and agented illustrators. If you pitch a project, you can’t pitch your portfolio, and vice versa.
  • Spread the word. The more activity we get, the more chances you have of getting your pitches to the widest audience possible.
  • We have received pitches for adult audiences in our YA spaces. If your project wouldn’t be classified in a library under YA, then please don’t pitch it at our event. It will be deleted.
  • We will delete any “pitch” that seeks to use our platform to promote products, services, opinions, etc.

We typically send regular posts each week starting in September, which often include prizes. This year, we will have four prize offerings from HUION. If you want the most immediate notifications of when these opportunities open up, subscribe to our website.

We have an active Facebook forum open to all GN creators of kids graphic novels where we share industry information. You can also follow us on BlueSky, IG, and Twitter.

Good luck to all.
