This week’s artist spotlight is Jerry Bennett, who created this clever graphic to help advertise KidLitGN’s upcoming pitch event.

What inspired you to make a graphic novel?
I’ve grown up with comics, beginning in third grade when I traced Star Wars comics. Since then, I’ve come to realize that comics are the most powerful storytelling medium out there.
What made you decide to pitch through KidLitGN?
KidLitGN has become, in my opinion, the premiere pitching event for those focused on creating kid lit comics. It has proved itself through all the incredible success stories and notoriety it has built through the years.
What have you done to prepare for the pitch event that has been most helpful?
Studying past pitch event entries on TwitterX has been an incredible resource in revising my own pitch.
The pitch loading window opens thee weeks from today! Get ready to load your pitches on Oct. 1 at 8 pm EDT. The comments sections for each pitch category will be turned on at that time. You have until Oct. 3 at 8 pm EDT to load pitches for up to three different graphic novel projects. Agents, editors, and publishers can begin viewing the pitches on Oct. 2, at 8 am EDT through Oct. 31, at 8 pm EDT. Good luck all, and thank you again, Jerry.
Dang…maybe if I’d traced comics in third grade, I’d be as good a GN artist as Jerry now! đŸ˜‰ (Yes, I am a fan of Jerry’s art!)
